Vitamin D3

Vitamin D, also known as cholecalciferol or the “sunshine vitamin”, is a fat-soluble vitamin produced by the body when skin is exposed to sunlight. Its two forms are vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Also, Vitamin D contributes to the normal functioning of immune system.

Vitamin D3 is produced endogenously when ultraviolet rays from sunlight strike the skin and trigger vitamin D synthesis. It can also be found in some foods and is available as a food supplement.

Vitamin D is naturally present in foods such as yogurt, pork, fish, egg yolk, mushrooms, cereals, spinach and soybeans.
